Choreomania Reflections 12 hours out.
I was wondering how long it would take before I cried, and I can officially say the tears started falling at 5:50AM on November 18, 2023.
I woke up around 4AM restless and reflective on CHOREOMANIA. But, honestly, my mind hasn’t been on CHOREOMANIA since I got home last night. PROJECT MOM and my revenge for my mother’s surprises last night were front and center as I’m always thinking about what’s next. Hence the name FORWARDTHINKING.
I woke up thinking about Baltimore, watching old Rona Diaries, listening to voice memos from years past. I watched a clip from Towards The Sky My Light, my Juneteenth 2020 Rona Diary, voice memos from Maryland Avenue and I realized in the span of three years the amount of experiences I’ve had. The new people in my life I’ve gotten to know and love. The things I’ve created and the people I’ve gotten to share them with.
I cry thinking about the beauty that could lie ahead. What joy awaits in the future. The new people I may meet in Chicago one day. What new Tito songs might I produce next year? What if I do work with FKA twigs one day?
I’m so thankful for the lessons of the past, the beauty of the moment, and the potential greatness of the future.
Thank you to the artists - Sydney, Joy, and Dvzie - for sharing your work with us. It means so much to me to be able to bring some of Baltimore’s finest who I also call friends and promote your stuff.
Thank you BVLL, BMB, Wanya, and Indapond for blessing us with your musical talent. Music is the most powerful art form. Spiritual healing, liberation, community can all be built through it. Let us not understate that.
Thank you Raymond for giving us a good, meditative word.
Thank you Arkadiusz for helping with sound and being an awesome engineer, guitarist, and friend. That acoustic set was so close to not happening.
Thank you Christian for running through New York with me the whole day and helping set up. From the Blick in East Village to FedEx in Union Square to Guitar Center in DTBK and more all across Brooklyn.
Thank you Kyler, David, Dorian, for being amazing creative partners.
Thank you Shenaia for all your help and motivating energy.
Thank you Kage, Judi, and Vision for support during the event.
Thank you Bask Studios for being an amazing Black venue space with all your service support and amenities. Ya’ll da goats fr.
Thank you to those who came, especially from afar (and some very far).
Thank you mom for everything. I’m plotting my revenge as we speak.
